I’m Zipo, your joyful gardener, and my love for plants started early — my mom was an avid gardener and the first person I saw make a water terrarium (long before they were cool!). I’ve always been surrounded by greenery, and over the years, that connection has only deepened.
In 2015, when I moved back to Kenya, I wanted to make my home feel alive. Art was out of budget, so I turned to plants — starting with flowering plants for colour, indoor plants to soften my space, and even a small vegetable patch for fresh harvests.
That passion blossomed into Sandy Roots, a space where I share the joy, creativity, and calm that plants bring. I draw much of my inspiration from Greek and Roman garden design, which beautifully wove together aesthetics, philosophy, and everyday function — gardens as places not just of beauty, but of reflection, purpose, and harmony. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just getting your hands dirty, I’m here to help you grow a space that’s full of life, heart, and meaning.
